Comfortis for dogs 20 40 lbs
Buy Comfortis 20 mg/ml
If you are looking for a highly effective antibiotic for the treatment of skin and respiratory tract infections caused by organisms that are susceptible to clindamycin, doxycycline, or tetracycline, there is no better choice than Comfortis.
Clindamycin, like other tetracyclines, can cause a condition called pseudomembranous colitis, a rare and serious condition in which certain species of Clostridium (a type of bacterium) multiply and develop in the lining of the intestine.
These bacteria produce irritating toxins that cause vomiting and diarrhea, and may lead to damage of the intestinal lining and possibly even death.
Pseudomembranous colitis is most often seen in individuals with some type of immunodeficiency, such as Crohn’s disease or a severely reduced immune system, and those with a tendency to develop diarrhea.
We do not recommend Comfortis to those with this condition or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
It is an over-the-counter medication and should only be used in accordance with the label directions.
Use only as directed.
Do not use it if you have any questions.
Keep all medications away from children and out of their reach.
Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient.
Do not use in larger doses or for longer than prescribed.
What is Comfortis?
Comfortis is an antibiotic that belongs to the class of tetracyclines.
Tetracyclines are one of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics in the United States and are known to be effective against a broad range of bacteria.
A major drawback of tetracyclines is that, although they are good against most common bacteria, they are not as effective against some, including anaerobic bacteria and certain viruses.
Comfortis has an active ingredient, doxycycline, which belongs to this group of medications.
Doxycycline is a semi-synthetic form of tetracycline. It is not absorbed as efficiently in the body as the natural form of the medicine, and does not break down as quickly in the body as the natural form.
While the medicine may be absorbed through the gastrointestinal system, Comfortis does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier.
The effects of Comfortis are likely to be stronger and last longer when absorbed through the mouth and swallowed.
Why is Comfortis prescribed?
Comfortis has a broad range of action and is considered to be one of the most effective medicines of this type in terms of the number of bacterial strains it affects.
As it is an antibiotic, Comfortis is prescribed as part of treatment for bacterial infections and diseases.
Comfortis is usually taken as a single daily dose to treat both upper and lower respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections.
Treatment should be for the shortest time necessary, with therapy lasting from two to six days. However, treatment time is normally longer for certain bacterial infections.
Although Comfortis can help with these infections, it may not work in some cases, and should not be used alone to treat certain types of infections.
Other groups of antibiotics that can be used to treat bacterial infections include penicillins and cephalosporins, plus trimethoprim, co-trimoxazole and doxycycline.
Comfortis cannot be used to treat viral infections.
How do I take Comfortis?
Comfortis is usually taken once daily in the evening. Dosage for an adult should be 100mg taken in the evening.
Although this dosage may seem high, it is important to remember that the effects of the drug do not last for more than 24 hours after the last dose.
It is unlikely that your dose will have to be increased because your condition will not be improving, and some people find the amount of medicine they need is reduced with a single daily dose.
The medication can be crushed or dissolved in a glass of water and taken by mouth.
Do not take the tablet after the expiry date listed on the pack or blister card. This may lower the effectiveness of the medication.
What side effects can be expected?
The most common side effects of Comfortis are diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort. These side effects usually clear within three to four days and may not require any treatment.
However, side effects do occur and you should contact your doctor if you have any concerns.
How can Comfortis be used to prevent or treat pneumonia?
Comfortis is not usually prescribed to treat or prevent bacterial pneumonia. Instead, it is prescribed to treat or prevent viral pneumonia. It is also used to treat a condition called influenza.
You should contact your doctor if you have questions about any of these uses.
Before using Comfortis, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, or if you have an allergy to other medicines or any other substances such as foods, dyes or preservatives.
This includes any medicines that you are already taking, such as:
Other types of paracetamol, such as Feverall, are medicines in the same class as Comfortis (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
If you are prescribed a dose of the same medicine at the same time as a dose of Comfortis, you should be given instructions on how to take the combination medicine and if it is safe to be taken with food.
Tell your doctor if you are planning to have any other treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including other drugs that have been prescribed for the same purpose (such as ibuprofen) or any other type of painkiller.
Do not take Comfortis if you are taking any other medicines to prevent or treat the common cold, flu or other respiratory tract infection.
Make sure you have enough sleep and drink plenty of fluids, especially if you are unwell.
Some people may experience an allergic reaction after taking Comfortis. If you are in any doubt, seek medical advice immediately.
